In order to prevent soil and groundwater pollution, ensure the sustainable use of soil and groundwater, and fulfill the regulations of Soil and Groundwater Pollution Remediation Act , the Environmental Protection Bureau (EPB) of Taoyuan County initiated the Project. In accordance with the control priority system of Gas Stations in Taoyuan County, the work conducted so far includes: (1) 72 routine site inspections for the first control system of gas stations, (2) checking the cathodic protection equipment, testing the basic functions of soil gas monitoring wells and measuring the oil vapor densities of 48 gas stations by using LEF, PID, and FID, (3) conducting the detection and analysis of soil samples and temporary groundwater sampling wells for 8 high pollution potential gas stations, (4) conducting the standard monitoring well installation at 3 gas stations with high pollution potential, (5) re-inspecting the function improvement of the monitoring equipments for the second and third control system of 71 gas stations, (6) investigating the baseline information and reporting data of 18 gas stations, (7) Two advocacy workshops were hold for 308 gas station works.
